Getting your data in
Your recordings in storage we run for you, or kept on your own; Sound Onion running on computing power we host, or on your own machine. You pay for the options you use, and we scale them as required.
Ours or yours: storage and compute
Our storage
A storage area we run for you, reached directly over SFTP, SSHFS, SMB or WebDAV, and grown as your recordings arrive.
Your storage
Keep your recordings where they already are, on your own machine or server: our agent connects them to your site, and they are not copied to us.
Our compute
Sound Onion runs on computing power we host, scaled up for a busy season and back down after.
Your compute When we open
Sound Onion runs on your own machine, beside your recordings, with our agent.
Mix them as you need: you pay for the options you use, and we scale them as required. In beta we set your choice up with you; connecting your own storage is by arrangement.
Four ways into our storage
| Connect by | With | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| SFTP | FileZilla, WinSCP, Cyberduck, rsync | uploading a card or a season of recordings |
| SSHFS | Linux and Mac | mounting your storage as a folder for your own scripts |
| SMB | Windows Map network drive, Mac Finder | mounting your storage as a drive |
| WebDAV | Windows, Mac Finder, Cyberduck, WinSCP | reaching your storage over HTTPS |
When we set up your storage, we give you its address and its own login, and you choose which of these four ways it accepts.
Then
Upload as you need
Copy recordings in, a file or a season at a time; they appear in Sound Onion's file list.
Mount and connect
Work with your storage as with any other drive or folder.
Script the results
Every review, detection and correction is a plain file in that storage, ready for your own analysis at scale. The formats
